Port Townsend High School Class of 2021 graduate Evan Abraham Toner completed basic training in the U.S. Coast Guard last year, and will be completing his advanced specialized training this year.
Toner graduated as a seaman as part of boot camp Company Tango 205 from the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May, New Jersey in August of 2024, and is currently stationed in Westport, Washington.
Toner is set to receive his training as a marine science technician in Yorktown, Virginia, later this year.
Evan’s parents are Daniel and Tina Toner of Port Townsend.
Tina Toner, chief nursing officer for Jefferson Healthcare in Port Townsend, told The Leader that Evan lettered in three sports including baseball.
“Evan was a starter in basketball, as a power forward, and a captain in football, playing center,” Tina Toner said.
The Toners told The Leader they are proud of their son for meeting the Coast Guard’s rigorous standards.
