The Port Townsend Wearable Art Show’s Face Mask Contest, an art competition for all ages, has opened its online gallery for people’s choice voting at PTWearableArt.com.

Voting has started with scores of artistic masks from which to choose.

At least 50 contest entries have come in from 20 states across the country, as well as from almost half a dozen countries, including the UK, Europe, Mexico and Australia, and all are on display on the website.

The public is invited to visit and choose their favorite masks based on their uniqueness.

Voting will continue through May 8 with winners announced May 9, and top vote-getters will receive cash prizes.

“In these trying times, art can help us stay connected and inspired,” organizer Tina Flores-McCleese said.

The 10th anniversary Port Townsend Wearable Art Show, a fund raiser for the Jefferson Community Foundation Fund for Women and Girls, was set for May 9.

After the show was canceled, the crew came up with the idea for the art-mask contest.

The show, which was to be held at Fort Worden’s McCurdy Pavilion, has been rescheduled for May 8, 2021.

In the meantime, community members may continue to contribute to the Fund for Women and Girls, which makes grants to local organizations such as Dove House and the Benji Project.
