The Port Townsend School District is conducting a study of its Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) programming and has started an Inclusive OCEAN Survey that will run through the end of the month.

Currently, the school district offers one alternative learning program, known as OCEAN, while in the past, there have been other ALE programs such as ICE and Mar Vista.

The district is seeking input in January from the entire community about alternative learning opportunities in the district.

Former students and families involved in the program are being encouraged to fill out a survey, as well as current students and families and any community members who are interested in participating.

The survey is at https://ptschools.org/survey.

It will be used to gather information and feedback on what is working well for students who seek an ALE program, and what else may be needed to meet student and community needs.

Officials hope to use survey results to:

• Identify OCEAN strengths and areas for improvement;

• Improve alternative learning experiences for secondary students;

• Learn how the community feels about OCEAN and how this feeling has evolved over time; and

• Strengthen community partnerships for alternative learning.

The Inclusive OCEAN Survey will run through Friday, Jan. 29.
