The Jefferson County Department of Emergency Management has scheduled a two-part series of free workshops for the Special Training in Emergency Preparedness for Unique People (STEPUP) program in September.

Both workshops take place in Port Ludlow. Early registration is recommended for this well-received informational presentation, according to a press release.

The first workshop in the series is set for 1-4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18 at the Port Ludlow Beach Club, 121 Marina View Drive in Port Ludlow. The second workshop is planned for 1-4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20 at the Port Ludlow Bay Club, 120 Spinnaker Place in Port Ludlow.

Speakers are to cover disaster preparedness topics such as emergency first aid, taking care of support animals and pets in a disaster, emergency communications, how to shelter in place, types of supplies for your grab-and-go kits and more.

There is to be a drawing at each workshop for five fully stocked grab-and-go backpacks.

Seating is limited.
