I’d like to comment on Andy Pernsteiner. I’ve “worked” with Andy for all of those years, but I want to tell you about my first and only “ride along” with Andy. It was a late night ride and he pulled over a DUI... The driver blew a 0.249 on the breathalizer ... an amount that most people would have been incoherent in speech. What impressed me was the professionalism Andy showed. He was respectful with the driver. The event went so smoothly, I was amazed at how well Andy dealt with the person.
Later, after the ride with Andy, I wrote a letter to Sheriff Mike Brasfield. I told Mike I was sure I could teach or instruct someone to repair or install electrical equipment (that was my profession), but I wouldn’t be able to teach Andy how to deal with people ... He was already better than anyone else I’d ever seen in my 40 years of dealing with the public.
I support Andy 100% in attaining the permanent position of Sheriff. I know he will do an excellent job representing our Sheriff’s Office.
I have sent a check to support his campaign. I only wish I’d kept my Jefferson County address so I could vote for him.
