What, no U.S. Postal Service mail?
When I first heard this, I could not believe it. Now there are more announcements about this.
I have contacted my U.S. Congressman and our two U.S. Senators.
They will combat it and have told me there is need to reorganize the whole system and should not just be a tag end of other legislation. But can it be done in time.?
In time to help the economy of our nation? Every bill, every tax, every bank notice, every credit card, every piece of medical information is sent to me by postal mail. I respond with paper checks to keep the flow of currency moving. I don’t believe computers can fulfill the economic exchange factor of the postal mail.
In time to hold us together? I still write wedding, graduation, sympathy, baby notes with handwriting. Good will is seen in my time and style to show my love and concern. Our Founding Fathers determined (Ben Franklin, in fact) a democracy must have an inexpensive way to communicate with each other.
In time to deliver the vote as we do in the state of Washington?
What ease; we register once. Our signature is on file. Ballots are sent with an outer envelope for signature, and the actual ballot concealed in an unmarked folder that is removed and counted. No chance for fraud. Actual ballots are kept and can be recounted. It is our own trusted local people who do this.
No one is hampered by age, health, or time to keep from voting.
If our leaders believe in founding fathers and their intent they cannot give up the U.S. Postal Service. I believe they would be blamed and lost in the next election.
