Another two Jefferson County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, Jefferson County public health officials reported Thursday.

The new infections pushed the number of COVID cases reported this week to nine in all.

Jefferson County has had 262 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.

The two new cases involve a Port Townsend woman in her 40s and a mid-county male under the age of 20.

A total of 31 people in Jefferson County were still awaiting COVID-19 test results Thursday.

Health officials said 20 people with COVID-19 remain in isolation. That's an increase from 17 Wednesday.

A total of 205 residents have recovered from COVID. According to the health department, 22 residents have been hospitalized after getting the coronavirus, and two deaths in Jefferson County have been attributed to the disease. 

Through Jan. 14, a total of 16,571 tests have been administered for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, and 16,278 tests have come back negative.

Through Thursday, 116 COVID cases have been found in Port Townsend residents; 120 in mid-county residents; and 26 in south county (Quilcene, Brinnon, and West Jefferson).

More females than males have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in Jefferson County; 135 females have been confirmed with the coronavirus, and 127 males.
