The section of Water Street between Gaines Street and Sims Way will be temporarily closed Monday, Jan. 23 and Tuesday, Jan. 24 for paving.
The city of Port Townsend will pave the road as the final step of repairing the sewer main for downtown and Uptown after it broke down in late December.
The section being paved is the “L” shaped road south of the UPS store between the Wells Fargo Bank access on Gaines Street and the intersection of Sims and Water. All adjacent businesses will have access while the paving is occurring and the sidewalks on the east side of Gaines and the north side of Water will remain open for pedestrians, city officials said.
