The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 131 calls between Friday, April 22, and Thursday, April 28. Below are selected reports.

At 2:45 p.m. Monday, April 25, someone in the 500 block of Saddle Drive reported to police that her restricted medicine was stolen. She told police that she knew two possible suspects, but didn’t want to report them since they were family members.

An officer visited the woman, and she said the theft had occurred on her property. She said that her back door was held shut by a stool, and guessed that the thief entered her residence through the back door.

At 11:25 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, a caller in the 400 block of Sims Way told police that her vehicle had been stolen.

The woman had parked her 2019 Volkswagen to go grocery shopping and couldn’t find it when she returned. Officers arrived in the area to help the woman. They later found the Volkswagen in the same parking lot.

At 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, in the 700 block of Cherry Street, an attempted car prowl was reported.

The night before, the reporting party heard their car alarm go off, likely scaring the suspect away. A neighbor reported a similar situation at a different time.

At 7 a.m. Wednesday, April 27,
a caller in the 2300 block of Emerald Court reported that someone had attempted to get into their car the previous night.

After investigating their car, the caller told police that nothing was stolen except for a diaper backpack, but many items had been moved around and the car was unlocked. They said that their insurance card was missing, but later found it in the vehicle.

At 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, in the 600 block of McClellan Street, a resident told police that their truck had been stolen.

The truck is a maroon-colored 1997 Chevrolet Silverado with 3/4 of a tank of gas. The resident left a key for the truck in their other car, a Volvo, and suspected that the truck was stolen after a car prowler discovered the keys when looking through the Volvo.

At 1 a.m. Thursday, April 28, a caller in the 2500 block of Cleveland Street reported a loud dog nearby barking nonstop.

The resident and the neighbor have a history of an ongoing dispute related to the dog, because the neighbor lets the canine out at night and it barks a lot.

An officer patrolled the area and didn’t see or hear the animal.

At 8:20 p.m. Thursday, April 28, in the 2300 block of Washington Street, a theft was reported by a transient woman.

She told police that another homeless person had stolen her tent and blankets from her spot near Kah Tai Lagoon.

Officers arrived and spoke with the woman. Police gave her a warm coat and a sleeping bag.
