The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 127 calls between Friday, April 15, and Friday, April 21.  Below are selected reports.

At 12:13 a.m. Friday, April 15, a caller in the 900 block of Grant Street reported someone outside nearby yelling loudly and saying “call the police.”

Officers shortly arrived to the scene but didn’t hear or see any commotion. The house police were called to appeared to be vacant and all of the lights were off.

The caller contacted police a second time, saying they still heard yelling from outside and that somebody was being threatened, and officers came to the property a second time. Nobody was outside or nearby and the home was vacant and dark once again, so officers left.

At 11:15 a.m. Friday, April 15, a resident in the 800 block of Hancock Street told police that he believed a neighbor had stolen his cat.

The resident said that he observed his cat from a window inside a neighbor’s residence. Officers arrived to the area and talked with the man. He told officers that his cat was being held hostage, and was threatening to break into his neighbor’s property to get the feline back.

The man was advised by officers to not go to his neighbor’s home and to let police handle any potential situation. The man said he understood and began walking to the nearby grocery store.

At 5:10 p.m. Friday, April 15, a caller in the 1600 block of Grant Street told police that they’d seen a woman harassing random people in the area.

The woman was described as being in her 50s and was yelling at drivers going by, harassing a construction worker, and screaming at random people.

Officers contacted the woman. She appeared to be highly intoxicated and officers saw her yelling at kids playing at a nearby playground. Officers trespassed the woman and told her not to return to the area or she’d be arrested.

At 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, in the 2500 block of Evans Vista, campers reported hearing a woman screaming loudly in the woods nearby. An officer arrived to the area and walked the trails where the screaming was heard, but couldn’t find anyone.

The officer did observe several transient camps in the woods but no sign of the screaming woman.

At 2 p.m. Sunday, April 17, a caregiver in the 800 block of H Street reported that the 67-year-old woman that they’d been caring for had passed away.

The caregiver had come over to the deceased woman’s home earlier to help with cleaning and discovered that she’d passed away. The coroner was notified.

At 6 a.m. Monday, April 18, a suspicious vehicle was seen in the 1800 block of 21st Street and reported to police.

The car was described as a gray Nissan Sentra and had been running for over an hour with the windows fogged up. Officers came across the Sentra and contacted the driver. Multiple teens were observed in the car, and they said they’d come to town because they’d heard about good pizza in the area. They said they were on their way home to Sequim, got tired, and parked the car.

Officers didn’t believe the teens’ “pizza” story, but no crime had occurred and the officers moved along.

At 11 a.m. Monday, April 18, in the 2600 block of Crest Avenue, two black dogs were seen running around the neighborhood without leashes. Officers were unable to find the canines. The dogs are believed to belong to one of the neighbors in the area.
