Port Townsend Police Log | Alien neighbors

The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 131 calls between Friday, March 18 and Thursday, March 24. Below are selected reports.

At 8:20 p.m. Saturday, March 19,
an officer in the 2000 block of East Sims Way observed a vehicle drifting over the center lane multiple times. The officer performed a traffic stop on the driver. The officer found that the driver wasn’t impaired, and said that his tires were poor and the oncoming lights were too bright, making it difficult to drive. The driver was warned for committing multiple traffic violations. 

At 9:33 p.m. Sunday, March 20,
a woman in the 100 block of Taylor Street requested law enforcement, said it wasn’t an emergency, but wouldn’t elaborate why officers were needed. An officer arrived and spoke to the woman at length. The officer discovered that the woman had a deadline to move into an apartment, but nobody was willing to help her. Officers did what they could to help and gave the woman resources for services that could help with her predicament.

At 8:13 a.m. Monday, March 21,
a caller reported a noise complaint in the 2900 block of Sheridan Street. The caller kept hearing a loud drumming sound coming from a neighbor’s property. While on the line, they also reported “hooting and hollering” from the neighbors. Officers arrived in the area and didn’t hear anything, but did observe a nearby event that was emitting noise. No action was taken by police. 

At 12:40 p.m. Monday,
March 21,
in the 300 block of West Sims Way, a caller reported that a man who appeared to be homeless was leaving a nearby location. The caller wanted the transient man to be trespassed for urinating on the same property the previous day. The caller said the man appeared to be headed to Kah Tai Lagoon Nature Park. Officers went to the park but were unable to locate the man.

At 6:36 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, officers were told that a vehicle behind one of the nearby businesses in the 3000 block of Sims Way appeared to be abandoned. Officers investigated and found a four-door sedan with a flat tire that appeared to have been left there a while ago. Officers had the sedan towed.

At 10:46 p.m. Tuesday,
March 22,
a burglary was reported in the 1900 block of West Sims Way. A caller said they saw somebody jump over the fence of their business by watching from a camera on the property. Officers came to the business, but didn’t find anyone there. It appeared that the suspect looked through the trash on the property, but nothing else was stolen or damaged.

At 11:35 p.m. Tuesday,
March 22
, a noise complaint was reported in the 1500 block of 49th Street. A caller told police that they’d heard a loud noise to the south of their home. They said it sounded like a motor, airplane, or maybe aliens. Officers arrived in the area and nothing was seen or heard.
