At 1 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, in the 1100 block of Rosecrans Street, a caller reported seeing someone from their side window taking items from a nearby construction site. The caller reported hearing banging sounds from the site as well as seeing a flashlight.

Officers drove to the construction site and contacted a lone man. He was transient and appeared to be taking wood from the dumpster. The site is private property and the officers trespassed and removed the man from the site.

At 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, a neighbor from an apartment complex informed law enforcement of a potential domestic abuse situation. The neighbor reported hearing a woman yelling for help and thought they heard the sound of someone hitting her. Police also learned that it appeared to be a couple and they have restraining orders against each other.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed a man leaving the area on Discovery Road. He was within 1,000 feet of the woman based on Google Maps documentation noted by the officers. The man was placed under arrest for violating the restraining order and also had a warrant for his arrest. He was booked into jail and charged with violation of a no-contact order and domestic violence assault.

At 12:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, police were called to the 2500 block of Evans Vista after receiving a report of someone screaming for help.

Officers came to the area but were unable to find anyone in need of help. They spoke with the reporting party who said they heard someone screaming from a quarter mile away behind the nearby building. Officers looked around more but were unable to locate anyone.

At 12:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, in the 400 block of Jackman Street, a resident reported hearing someone on the back steps of the home.

The resident hadn’t seen anyone but suspected an unwanted visitor was out there after being woken up by the noise. Officers patrolled the area on foot but only found deer, raccoons, and other wildlife.

At 7:40 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, a stolen bike was reported in the 2600 block of Washington Street. The bike, a 1950s imitation Schwinn Lowrider, had been stolen sometime overnight. The bicycle was described as all black with a red paint mark on the back frame, with leather-handle bars, and was valued around $500.

A report was taken, though the owner didn’t have the serial number of the bike.

At 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, a complaint was made in the 2200 block of 14th Street due to a resident having a bonfire while a burn ban was in place.

An officer assisted the fire department in dealing with the illegal burn. The fire was reportedly around 5 feet by 5 feet and was put out.

At 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, in the 1900 block of Sherman Street, a caller reported a collection of vandalized light posts in a nearby parking lot. At 4:40 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, a road rage incident occurred at the F and Rose streets intersection.

One driver was tailgating another driver on the roadway, and the two started arguing after the driver in front stopped their car and got out.
