The city council reports that in a recent poll 63 percent approve of “streateries” in our former parking places.
But that is 63 percent of how many residents? Sixty-three percent of 200? Sixty-three percent of 2,000? Sixty-three percent of 12,000, of 15,000?
If the city had wanted a full response to its poll, it would have included the poll with the monthly newsletter in our water bills. That way, most people would have had an opportunity to respond. Instead, many of us learned of the poll by chance.
I think the pro-streateries statistic is therefore flawed, and suggest that the city council do the poll over, via the water bill newsletter, and allow residents to return their response with their water-bill payment.
