"Experiencing Seabirds" is the topic of a workshop offered by the Port Townsend Marine Science Center from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9 at the center's Natural History Exhibit (NHE).
This is a kick-off event for docent training for the NHE and is free to current and prospective NHE docents. It is also open to the public for a fee.
Presenting the workshop is Ken Wilson, who has assisted seabird research from Norway to Maine to Arctic Alaska. An accomplished presenter and author, he has led natural history workshops and university courses for 30 years and holds science degrees from Cornell University and the University of Washington.
Participants should come dressed for both indoor sessions and for weathering a walk along the beach at Fort Worden State Park. An additional field trip to a local bird-rich area at a later date is included as part of this workshop. To register, call the PTMSC office at 385-5582, ext. 104.
