Port Ludlow Art League selects artist, jewelry for July

Posted

Alice Thuring has been named the Port Ludlow Art League’s Artist of the Month for July.

Janice Gruber is the league’s Jeweler of the Month.

The July show is Thuring’s first art exhibit in Port Ludlow. She works with pen and ink or oil using palette knives and brushes, and her stunning artwork portrays the wildlife and the magnificent landscapes of Washington and Idaho.

Thuring studied both art history and painting at the University of Washington, Whitman College, and Boise State University, and her artwork has been showcased in art galleries in Idaho and Washington.

Her artwork will be on display in July at the Port Ludlow Sound Community Bank and online at www.portludlowart.org.

Gruber, this month’s featured jeweler, is an accomplished painter and spends most of her time creating stunning acrylic and oil paintings.

She is also known for her beautiful jewelry, and her designs feature sterling silver, beads, and freshwater pearls. Gruber often enhances her jewelry designs with a painted background.

Her jewelry can be seen at the Sound Community Bank, the Port Ludlow Art League Gallery, and online at www.portludlowart.org.

The bank is located at the corner of Oak Bay Road and Osprey Ridge Drive in Port Ludlow. Located next to the bank, the gallery is now open from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
