Political event lacked press coverage

While the Leader covered the THING, admittedly a fun and financial bonanza for the local economy, here’s what you missed:

Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson who attended the Jefferson County Democrats 25th Annual Fish Feast on Sunday at the Fairgrounds. On Monday he announced Washington’s role in the 19-state lawsuit against Trump’s treatment of immigrant children.

You missed Public Lands Commissioner Hilary Franz who spoke of efforts to fight forest fires throughout Washington and save our orcas.

You missed Congressman Derek Kilmer who hosted 20 young Democrats who met with elected officials.

You missed State Senator Kevin VandeWege and Representatives Steve Tharinger and Mike Chapman who shared the accomplishments of the State Legislature including tuition help for families making $50,000 or less to send a member to college.

You missed Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Council members Kurt Grinnell and Loni Greninger who honored the event with a traditional prayer and song and spoke of the history of ancestral grounds upon which the fish feast took place.

Over 350 attended. Over 100 volunteers gave their time and we are grateful to each of them.  A dollar of each ticket will be donated again to the fairgrounds.

We missed The Leader. We invite you to join us in August 2020 for our next fish feast and the launch of the 2020 campaigns.
