The Port Townsend Main Street Program hosts an informational meeting to discuss personal safety tips for store employees, 9-10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 15 at The Bishop Hotel, 714 Washington St.
Officer Patrick Fudally of the Port Townsend Police Department is set to talk about crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.

Port Townsend Police Chief Michael Evans said Dec. 5 that officers have been responding to calls from business employees who are being confronted by people, not necessarily customers, who appear threatening and/or display odd behavior. “A good percentage of our calls are dealing with transient issues and mental health and welfare checks,” Evans said.
