Police still have no word on the whereabouts of Rachel Gail Jenkins, who was reported missing on Jan. 7.
Jenkins, 40, is a Port Townsend and Sequim transient who listed Port Townsend as her most recent residence on the social networking site Facebook.
A friend, a 40-year-old Sequim woman, reported Jenkins missing after receiving a message from Jenkins, who reportedly said she was sorry and would see her friend in heaven. The friend said Jenkins was distraught and possibly suicidal.
The Leader did a public search for Jenkins on Facebook prior to posting the story on ptleader.com on Jan. 11. Another search on Jan. 19 showed the profile had been deleted.
Jenkins is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and 135 pounds, with green eyes and shoulder-length light brown hair.
“She’s not in trouble,” said police Sgt. Ed Green. “We’re not going to arrest or detain her. We just want to speak with her, make sure she’s OK and get her in contact with her friends.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Port Townsend Police Department at 385-2322.
