The Port Townsend Police Department (PTPD) responded to 204 calls between Nov. 10 and Nov. 16, including 4 complaints about parking, 2 commercial fires, 4 incidents of suspicious circumstances and 7 reports of theft. Officers made 56 traffic stops. Among the incidents were the following:

A burglary report was filed with the police department on Nov. 10 at 8 a.m. A person broke into the office of a local laundromat and accessed the cash drawer. At the time of the report, it was unknown if anything was missing. At 8:10 p.m., officers arrested a man for the attempted burglary and DUI. He was transported to jail.

Officers responded at 2:45 p.m., Nov. 10 to an area on Jefferson Street between Polk and Fillmore streets, where a man was lying on the ground. The subject was taking a nap and did not require medical aid. He was advised to leave the property and nap somewhere else.

A Sherman Street resident spoke with police at 10:45 a.m. on Nov. 12 about an incident that occurred at her home. She said her front porch and door had been covered with yellow paint, and the inside of her car had yellow paint or mustard spilled on it as well. No suspects were named. The reporting party said her neighbor has cameras directed at her house, and both women stated that a man had been around the area the previous night looking into the reporting party’s apartment, and the neighbor had seen him.

Officers responded to a business on Kearney Street at 9:15 a.m., Nov. 16 after a woman reported that a man had stopped and asked her if she wanted a ride. She declined and kept walking. The woman called police a second time to report the male subject was still harassing her as she was walking, motioning her to get into his car. Officers located the man who claimed he was not following or harassing anyone. Officers advised him he could be arrested if he did not leave people alone and to stop following them. The reporting party was advised to call 911 if the subject bothers her again.

On Nov. 16, an officer responded to a call from a person who stated that people were walking their dogs in the Redmen Cemetery on Discovery Road and not cleaning up the waste left behind. Signs are to be posted stating that no dogs are allowed on the cemetery grounds and that violators will be banned.

Officers responded to Haines Place Park and Ride on Nov. 16 at 1:30 p.m. after it was reported that a person was sleeping on a park bench. The man was breathing yet unresponsive. Two other subjects were found near the woods, and one was unresponsive. Medics were called, and both unresponsive subjects were transported to the hospital. At 5:20 p.m., officers responded to the hospital, where one of the men was being verbally aggressive with the staff. When police arrived on the scene, the man was leaving the hospital.

At 9:35 p.m. on Nov. 16, officers were called to a business on Sims Way and Haines Place where an intoxicated man was bothering customers. When asked to leave, he refused. Another intoxicated customer entered the business with a bottle. The two male subjects were belligerent; both were given trespass admonishments and left. At 11:05 p.m., one of the men was attempting to buy alcohol from a store on Sims Way. The man was issued a trespass admonishment and escorted off the property to the bus stop. At 1:20 a.m. on Nov. 17, the same man was seen wandering around the parking lot of the store and was given a courtesy ride to the shelter for the night.
