Port Townsend police responded to 126 total calls for service between Dec. 28, 2020 and Jan. 3, 2021. Below are selected reports.

At 12:56 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, a caller reported that their Subaru Forester had been keyed sometime overnight in 600 block of Hancock Street.

The caller told police  the person responsible was someone who resides at the apartment complex where the vehicle was parked.

At 6:41 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, police responded to a report of a break-in at Fort Worden State Park. One of the buildings had been broken into sometime on the day of the report.

Police said a window had been kicked in at the building, causing about $100 worth of damage. The building had been searched, but nothing was noted as being stolen. This is the second burglary reported in recent days at the fort.

At 8:37 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, police were alerted to a vehicle sitting stationary in the middle of a roundabout in the 2400 block of Sims Way.

Police contacted a semi-conscious male driver of the vehicle and determined that he was impaired. The driver was arrested for DUI.

At 6:41 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, a burglary was reported at a business in the 1500 block of Franklin Street. Sometime overnight an unknown individual accessed the property and searched for valuables.

Police are unsure exactly what items, if any, were taken. Staff at the business said they would attempt to review security footage and provide any additional information to law enforcement.

At 1:02 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, a woman in the 300 block of 21st Street called police to report a group of juveniles throwing eggs at her home.

The woman added that the youngsters had moments earlier executed a “ding-dong ditch.”

The caller did not know how many kids were in the group but noticed a series of small footprints on her property. The victim reported there was no damage to the house and told police she was already out front washing off the remnants of the juveniles’ activities. The caller told police she was just concerned that the kids were going around and getting into trouble.

At 7:42 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, police received a report of a man who wandered into a grocery store in the 400 block of Sims Way and was stumbling around.

The caller told police that the man appeared to be very intoxicated and dropped beer onto the floor while in the store and may have stolen some food items. The man was seen getting into a white Toyota and driving away.

An officer arrived in area but was unable to locate the vehicle.

At 12:34 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, a caller in the 1600 block of Hastings Avenue said he had been the victim of a license plate theft.

The man said someone had removed his license plate from his Dodge van sometime within the last month.

At 2:09 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, a caller in the 4900 block of Landes Street heard a loud argument between a man and a woman near a canvas tarp inside the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.

An officer made contact with the people described by the caller and noted a previous altercation from the day before. Following a brief conversation the man involved in the incident decided he was going to pack up and leave.

Officers said it was a recurring problem.
