The Port Townsend Police Department logged a total of 156 calls from June 20-26.
Police officers conducted 35 traffic stops and made 2 DUI arrests.
Calls such as domestic violence and suicides are left out of the call log, so as not to retraumatize victims and loved ones.
June 20: Officers responded to a tip about a possible DUI driver. Officers located the vehicle and determined that the driver was in fact operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
• Officers responded to a rear-end traffic collision. No injuries were reported, but one vehicle needed to be towed from the scene.
June 21: Officers responded to a two-vehicle collision. One driver was transported to the hospital, and both vehicles needed to be towed from the scene.
• Officers responded to a theft call at a local grocery store. Officers identified the suspect, and convinced them to return to the store and pay for the merchandise taken. The suspect was cited for the theft, and trespassed from the store.
June 22: Officers responded to a malicious mischief call at a city-owned building downtown. Through their investigation, officers determined that someone had attempted to rip a sink off a wall, damaging it beyond repair.
• Officers responded to a burglary alarm at a local business. It was determined to be a false alarm.
June 23: Officers responded to a single-vehicle collision with a house. Responding officers conducted a DUI investigation, and determined that the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated. The driver was arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
• Officers responded to a traffic collision, in which a vehicle struck a parked car. Through their investigation, officers determined that the driver of the moving vehicle lost control, and was unfamiliar with the manual transmission, causing the vehicle to roll into a parked vehicle. No injuries were reported, but one vehicle needed to be towed from the scene.
June 24: Officers responded to a theft call, in which lawn art was reported to be stolen.
• Officers responded to a theft call at a local grocery store. Officers tracked down the suspect, and the store chose to have the suspect trespassed in lieu of prosecution.
June 25: Officers responded to a violation of a court order call. The suspect, whom officers already had probable cause to arrest for violating a court order, refused to obey officer commands, and attempted to hide from officers. The suspect was located and taken into custody.
• Officers responded to a disturbance at a local grocery store. Officers contacted the suspect, and issued a trespass admonishment at the store’s request.
June 26: Officers responded to a single-vehicle collision. No injuries were reported, but the vehicle needed to be towed from the scene.
• Officers responded to a report of a possible scam via text message. Port Townsend Police would like to remind citizens that private companies cannot suspend your driver’s license.
