Port Townsend Police responded to a total of 181 calls from April 12-19, and conducted 30 traffic stops. Calls such as domestic violence and suicides are left out of the call log, so as to not retraumatize victims and loved ones.
April 12: Between the hours of midnight and 8 a.m., officers located two individuals with outstanding arrest warrants. Both individuals were taken into custody without incident and booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
April 13: Officers responded to a report of a red SUV driving erratically and attempting to pull people over with red and blue lights. Officers contacted the vehicle nearby, and the suspect admitted to driving around with the lights on, but denied attempting to pull anyone over. The suspect further stated that the lights would be removed from the vehicle. Port Townsend police urge anyone who is stopped by a red SUV to call 911 and report the incident.
April 14: Officers responded to a violation of a court order call. Through their investigation, officers developed probable cause that a violation had occurred, and took the suspect into custody without incident. The suspect was booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
April 15: Officers responded to assist the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at a local business park. Deputies had located an individual who was wanted on a felony arrest warrant. Upon their arrival, officers located the individual, who immediately ran from officers. After a brief foot pursuit, the individual was taken into custody and booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
April 16: Officers responded to a theft call at a local grocery store. Responding officers conducted an investigation and were able to locate the suspect nearby. The suspect was arrested and charged with theft. Additionally, the suspect was trespassed from the grocery store.
April 17: Officers responded to a traffic collision in a local roundabout. Officers determined the collision to be non-injury and assisted in the exchange of information.
• Officers responded to assist sheriff’s deputies on an assault call that occurred just outside city limits. Responding officers located the victim, who had left the scene and entered the city. Additionally, officers assisted in the search for the suspect, who was not found. The investigation is ongoing.
April 18: Officers responded to a welfare check. Responding officers provided multiple people with assistance in getting in touch with drug treatment resources.
April 19: Officers assisted with a First Amendment march, providing the scene with security, and ensuring citizens had the opportunity to express their views.
