The Port Townsend Police Department responded to a total of 182 calls from Feb. 28 through March 6. Officers conducted 30 traffic stops and made one DUI arrest. Calls such as domestic violence and suicides are left out of the call log, so as to not retraumatize victims and loved ones.

March 1: A power grid issue caused multiple problems downtown, including causing the lights at Taylor and Water streets not to work, an elevator in an apartment to stop functioning, and several alarm calls and reports of power outages.
• After a theft at a local grocery store, officers located the vehicle involved, and made warrant arrests, and arrests for a minor in possession.
March 2: Officers were called to a local restaurant, where a bag of suspected methamphetamine was found in a bathroom. The meth has been safely stored, and if you believe it belongs to you, please contact the Port Townsend Police Department.
March 3: Officers responded to a reported shoplifting at a local grocery store. Suspects used self-checkout, and only scanned some of the items in their cart. Video, photos and a vehicle license were obtained, so the suspects should expect an arrest to be made.
• Several doors to the locker rooms at Memorial Field were damaged. If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the police department.
March 4: A man in an old military uniform was driving a truck and using abusive language (a disorderly conduct offense) in the 1200 block of Corona Avenue. Law enforcement has identified this individual, and has had 15 contacts with him in the last month.
March 5: On Discovery Road, near the elementary school, several citizens reported witnessing an indecent exposure. Two adults were having sex in plain view, in a vehicle within the school zone, during the morning hours, as children were arriving at school. The act was witnessed by multiple people, including children as young as 11 years old. Both subjects were taken into custody.
• A man in a military uniform (the same as above) reportedly assaulted a veteran, who explained to him that his wearing of the uniform was disrespectful. An arrest was made for that assault.
• Following a DUI investigation, a suspect was arrested, who had at least one prior arrest for DUI in the past 10 years.
March 6: A vehicle collision occurred near Sims and Kearney. A vehicle entering the roadway from a parking lot did not yield to a vehicle driving on Sims Way, resulting in a collision. The driver entering the roadway was cited.
