The Port Townsend Police Department responded to a total of 157 calls between Feb. 21-27. Officers conducted 23 traffic stops, made two DUI arrests, and conducted one other criminal traffic investigation. Calls such as domestic violence and suicides are left out of the call log, so as to not retraumatize victims and loved ones. 

Feb. 21: A weapons violation. Three juveniles from Clallam County visited a residence in Port Townsend. One of the juveniles was in possession of a firearm. PTPD officers investigated the situation and recovered a stolen firearm from Clallam County from one of the Juveniles. No threats or assaults with the firearm were reported to have occurred during this incident.

Feb. 22: A rock was thrown through the window of a house involved with the weapons violation the day before. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

• A boat was reported sinking at the Point Hudson marina. Upon arrival, it was obvious the boat had sunk. Various crews have worked on containment. Efforts are still underway.

• Officers responded to an overdose near DSHS in a camp site. Upon arrival, officers administered life-saving medication and took over CPR. Due to an officer’s quick action, training and access to life-saving medications, the subject survived.

Feb. 23: A report of an individual yelling obscenities on a trail behind residences. The subject was contacted, and he said he was practicing his “gangster rap.” 

• A hit-and-run DUI. The subject struck barriers at the Rainer roundabout on Sims Way, was located a short time later, with matching damage to her vehicle, and was determined to be under the influence.

Feb. 24: Two newer looking bicycles were found in Kah Tai by park staff and held for safekeeping.

Feb. 25: A jacket was reported stolen from the post office, from a customer who had set it down while waiting in line.

Feb. 26: A man was found camping on the City Hall landscape, and trespassed from city property due to repeatedly leaving litter. He is still allowed at the warming center and public restrooms.

Feb. 27: A welfare check was conducted on a 94-year-old who was not answering the door or their phone. Officers made contact with the person, who was not wearing hearing aids, but was otherwise fine.
