The Port Townsend Police Department responded to 243 calls for service between Dec. 11 and Dec. 18, including 5 reports of prowling, 2 fireworks, 4 suspicious persons and 1 report of theft. There were 13 field investigations, and police dealt with 25 follow-up reports and 57 traffic stops.

Not all calls generate a written case report and not all case reports have been turned in and available for review when The Leader went over the week’s calls with Chief Michael Evans on Dec. 19. Reports and incidents, including some from previous weeks, included:

• Felony harassment charges may be pressed against a 34-year-old woman who threatened to kill a 56-year-old man who is living in an RV parked on McPherson Street. The man alleged the woman had a knife in her hand when she threatened him on Dec. 18. The two people are not related. An officer arriving on the scene allegedly heard the woman threaten the man. She was arrested.

• A woman cut her wrists and then got into her car Dec. 17, which was parked in a garage. She turned the car on, apparently wanting to harm herself, but there was a hole in the garage ceiling. She called 911 for assistance. Officers arrived, turned off the car and took the woman to the Jefferson Healthcare emergency room.

• A neighbor of someone who lives in the 1900 block of Water Street called police Dec. 16 after hearing yelling and banging on an apartment door. The door had been damaged when police arrived. A woman apparently had kicked the door. The man who lived in the apartment was not at the scene and, when contacted later, did not want to press charges. The woman was upset, officers said.

• Blue spinning Christmas lights valued at $40 were taken from a residence on the 1700 block of Sheridan Street during the night, it was reported Dec. 14.

• A woman told a family member that she was suicidal. Officers went to check on her and found half-full bottles of alcohol. The woman was taken to Jefferson Healthcare’s emergency room Dec. 13.

• A woman and her daughter became embroiled in an argument around 7:32 p.m., Dec. 12. The daughter pushed the mother. The argument was called in by a third party. No one wanted to press charges.

• A man living in an apartment on the 600 block of Water Street said he heard someone on the roof and then saw someone try to get through a hatch in the roof at about 9 a.m., Dec. 12. The person reporting the incident said he thought he saw the suspect go into a cafe. A police officer found a man matching the description of the person seen on the room and talked with him. The 24-year-old man said he saw a ladder, went up it, saw the hatch and opened it because he was curious and was exploring the area. Officers are on the lookout for a burglary suspect in downtown Port Townsend, Chief Michael Evans noted.

• Someone threw a rock through the front of a restaurant in the 1200 block of Sims Way on Dec. 12. Damage is estimated at $750.

• A homeowner reported returning home Nov. 26 and discovering someone had entered the house and stolen jewelry worth about $1,000. The incident occurred on the 2300 block of Haines Street.
