The Port Townsend Police Department responded to 173 calls for service between Feb. 12 and Feb. 19, including 2 reports of suicidal people, 6 calls about suspicious activity, 39 traffic stops and 8 calls requesting welfare checks. Incidents included:

Two men were found drinking beer near the restrooms at Kah Tai Lagoon Nature Park on Feb. 14. Both had been warned about drinking in the park in the past and both were issued a trespass notice.

A picnic table, garden statue and other items were left on property owned by the city off Hastings Avenue, a caller reported Feb. 15. The reporting party gave police the license plate number and a description of the vehicle. When contacted by the police, the owner of the vehicle stated that was a normal area for dropping things off that could be used by others. He was told to remove the items and not leave things at that location in the future.

On Feb. 15, officers responded to West Marine on Washington Street, where two men had reportedly been prowling earlier in the day. The reporting party suspected the two men had returned to the area to take a compressor that was in the back of a pickup truck parked nearby. One of the subjects left the area, and the other was arrested.

An officer responded to a home on Hancock Street after a woman reported her laptop and headphones had been stolen Feb. 16. She was uncertain if anything else had been taken. The door to her home was open when she arrived home.

On Feb. 19, officers were called to a restaurant on Water Street where a man had thrown hot coffee in the face of another man and reportedly threatened to kill him. The victim left the restaurant, went to another restaurant nearby, where he refused aid. The suspect also left the restaurant, went outside and began yelling at people nearby. The suspect was arrested, charged with assault and booked into the county jail.
