On June 11 at 1 p.m., there we be a rededication ceremony for a new plaque at the Marvin Shields Memorial located on Sims Way.
The original bronze plaque noting Marvin Shield’s Medal of Honor citation was stolen in early 2019. (https://www.ptleader.com/stories/marvin-shields-memorial-placard-stolen,61468)
The new plaque, made of granite, will be dedicated on June 11. The public is encouraged to attend.
The Daughters of the American Revolution, Admiralty Inlet Chapter, are caretakers of the site and mustered their resources to create a replacement plaque.
