Picnic, open house at the Rothschild House

Posted

The Rothschild House will open its doors for the first time this summer for an open house and picnic next week.

The special event is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18 at the Rothschild House State Park, 418 Taylor St., Port Townsend.

The historic house has been closed for the completion of special project this summer, in collaboration with Washington State Parks.

Interested in learning more? The public is invited to a special opening of the Rothschild House to celebrate the unique objects within the home, presented by the Jefferson County Historical Society. Bring a picnic dinner, enjoy live music, tour the house, and hear from Erika Chester, a Rothschild family descendant, about her summer inventory project of the home’s interior.

Chester will share several of her favorite objects and discuss the joys and challenges of working within a 153-year-old house.
