Photography exhibit in Uptown opens this week

A new photography exhibit by David King Rowe IV Photography will open this week in Port Townsend.

The exhibit will be hosted by Finistére in Uptown Port Townsend, and emphasizes a new series “Qualia” along with a continued body of coastal studies.

A reception is planned for 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 5, and all are welcome to join.

Pieces in the show will remain up for viewing till the end of August.

David King Rowe IV has long been finding tranquil moments at the intersection of land, sea, and sky.

Born on the central coast of California, Rowe approaches the American West Coast with a sense of wonder. His work asks us to forget what we know: the beach becomes an abstract meeting of surface, the horizon a meditation on light, space, and form. Capturing the ever-shifting mood of the coastline and its immediate natural surroundings, he uses the subtle abstraction of the black-and-white analog medium to create impressions at once eerie and familiar.

Finistére is located at 1025 Lawrence St.

Residing in Port Townsend since 2018, Rowe continues his exploration of the Olympic Peninsula’s forests, mountains, streams, and coastal shorelines.
