Two tall ships from Victoria, British Columbia, are on the hard at the Port Townsend Boat Haven until Friday. The Pacific Grace, a 138-foot-long schooner, and the Pacific Swift, a 115-foot schooner, were hoisted out of the water on Monday for what Terry Khile, Port of Port Townsend yard manager, called a “paint and zincs” cleanup by the crews of the boats. Khile explained there are customers who go to Canada to get their boats hauled out because they think Canada has better prices, and there are customers from Canada who come to Port Townsend because they “say they get good-quality work done.” Khile said it is the second time the Pacific Grace has been at the port. The boat also has been featured at the Wooden Boat Festival.
