Philip Lynn Carpentier

Philip Lynn Carpentier passed away in Katy, Texas, on Monday, August 28, 2017, at the age of 63. He was born on May 4, 1954, in Midwest City, Oklahoma, to Joseph Henry Carpentier and Marjorie Alethea Vane Carpentier.

Phil was a 1972 graduate of Port Townsend high school and excelled at academics, particularly mathematics. He earned bachelor of science degrees in mathematics and in engineering at the University of Washington, and a masters in mechanical engineering from the University of Houston. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Shell Oil Company for 34 years until his retirement in 2015. He was also actively involved with the ASME and served as chairman of the South Texas Section and as Vice-President of Projects. In this capacity, he helped plan, organize and judge university engineering competitions.

He loved to travel and visited all fifty states and many countries. In addition he made nearly annual trips to the Pacific Northwest with his family in order to visit relatives and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cassandra Carpentier; sons, Michael Carpentier of Federal Way, WA, Ben Carpentier and wife Elaine of Katy, TX with granddaughter Sophia, and daughter Laura Sickels and husband Brock. Brothers and sisters include Dave Carpentier, Bill Carpentier, Ric Carpentier, Dorothy Westlund, Tim Carpentier, Virginia Carpentier, and Paul Carpentier. He was preceded in death by his parents and by brother Jack Carpentier.
