After valiantly facing ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), Penny left us to be with God on May 20 by using Washington’s ‘Death with Dignity’ program. Just before this, she sat on her porch while loved ones drove by with banners and balloons showing her how much she is loved.

Penny was an important asset to our Port Townsend community by tirelessly volunteering for Trinity United Methodist Church, Habitat for Humanity, ECHHO, and other local organizations. Penny left her mark on Port Townsend and remains in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sister Brenda Hamlin Kelley, step-children Vince and Karen Vorster, and step-grandchildren Ryan and Logan Vorster.

Donations in Penny’s honor can be sent to Trinity United Methodist Church, Habitat for Humanity, ECCHO, or our local Hospice.
