The Leader is embarrassing itself and doing a disservice to the community with its slanted and misleading coverage of the Fort Worden PDA’s financial problems caused by the pandemic.
You’ve seized on loose talk in emails, reported it as fact, and larded it with coy hints of misconduct, too vague to be disproved. You’ve wrongfully impugned the reputations of good people who worked hard for years to preserve and improve one of our region’s precious assets.
When the pandemic hit, these people ran into the fire to try to save what they had built for our benefit: a vibrant, self-sustaining center for the arts and lifelong learning. Former Mayor David King got it right in his April 7 letter when he said we are lucky to have such people among us. They deserve our thanks. You should be ashamed.
