Paint the town pink

Women wearing sparkling attire, pink tees and and glitter eye shadow took to the streets Thursday, Oct. 5 for the 14th annual Girls’ Night Out, sponsored by Port Townsend Main Street as a fundraiser for the nonprofit program and Jefferson Healthcare Foundation.

The 486 goodie bags, featuring items from The Clothes Horse, Tickled Pink and About Time and coupons for local businesses, sold out by 5 p.m, said Main Street director Mari Mullen. “That's the goal,” she said. “We had beautiful weather, which really helped with the turnout.”

Forty-one women showed up for the 7 a.m. Tiara Trot, Mullen said, and Chris Ardoin of Port Ludlow won the grand prize at the end of the evening. “It was so much fun to see it all sparkly downtown,” Mullen said. “It was a very good turnout and a really fun event.”

Main Street raised $11,233.50 through the sale of goodie bags and raffle tickets. Funds are split between the Main Street Program and Jefferson Healthcare Foundation, which helps provide breast and cervical cancer screenings, care and treatment for low-income Jefferson County residents.
