The pilot episode of a physical comedy action-adventure series set in a fictionalized Port Townsend premieres on Sunday, April 16.

“P-Town” follows the “most unnecessary of adventures” of three unlikely friends – a bum, a ninja assassin and Steve – who throughout the show find themselves in such situations as dodging lasers when dumpster diving for tacos, improvising in the bathroom when out of toilet paper and running water, and panhandling with a smartphone.

“So far, the response has been really good,” said producer Daniel Milholland,noting that the first chapter of the pilot is “fairly provocative.”

“We are really excited to show it to a larger audience,” Milholland said.

The pilot episode was produced by performing arts group Nanda members Milholland, Tomoki Sage, Kiyota Sage, Chen Pollina and filmmaker Michael McCurdy. The group of five previously produced what’s locally known as the “Mattress Tag Video” and have been collaborating on projects since then.

The goal with “P-Town” is to build community and expand the local economy while supporting the arts, said Milholland, who is also hoping to build out-of-town viewership.

“We want to cultivate a global fan base of inspired viewers so we can support and build our team,” Milholland said.

More than 30 local residents participated in the production of the pilot episode, including Deputy Fire Chief Ted Krysinski, sound engineer and musician George Rezendes, and regional musicians DJ Captain Peacock, Sam Rezendes and the Crow Quill Night Owls.
