Overturned semi near Brinnon blocks Highway 101

At 9:12 a.m. on May 14, the Brinnon Fire Department was on-scene at Milepost 308 on Highway 101 for a semi-truck rollover accident.

A power pole was involved, and multiple posters on the Brinnon Community Page on Facebook reported power outages in locations including Pleasant Harbor.

The driver was not injured, but the road was blocked in both directions by power lines hanging over the highway, which led Brinnon Fire Chief Tim Manly to predict a minimum two-hour delay at the time, and he noted the truck was “filled with waste.”

Even with members of the Mason County Public Utility District on the scene, Manly was forced to extend his estimate, posting on Facebook that Highway 101 would be “open intermittently for a few hours” as of 11:55 a.m.

“As of right now, it’s closed,” Manly said. “A tow truck is working on pulling the truck out of the ditch.”
