Our elected officials need to join

Asylum-seekers have the right to present themselves to border officials and have their concerns heard.

If migrants establish “credible fear” of injury or death in their homeland they have further rights to have their story evaluated.

Taking minors from refugee parents and incarcerating them in separate facilities for indefinite periods simply because they exercised their right to apply for asylum is both barbaric and antithetical to America’s  family values.  Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Rep.

Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) are among those elected who have challenged this Trump/Sessions travesty.  Our Senators (Murray and Cantwell) and Representative (Kilmer) must join them.

We need to remind them to avoid the silence of most Germans in the 1930s.
