One person was hurt in an early morning fire in Port Hadlock-Irondale when a large motorhome went up in flames.
Firefighters from East Jefferson Fire Rescue were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the 11000 block of Highway 19 at 3:52 a.m. Thursday, June 30.
Arriving units found a motorhome in flames.
All of the occupants were able to escape the fire, but East Jefferson Fire Rescue said one person was injured.
The motorhome was a total loss. The displaced residents are being assisted by the Red Cross, according to East Jefferson Fire Rescue.
“We are fortunate that no one was gravely injured this morning," said East Jefferson Battalion Chief Jason MacDonald.
"The cause of the fire is under investigation," MacDonald said. "It appears to be related to an electrical malfunction while using a space heater.”
Emergency responders from Naval Magazine Indian Island helped put out the blaze, and crews had left the scene by 6 a.m. Thursday.
