Sharon A. Spinney, age 76, of Tomahawk, Wisc. passed away on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017 at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston, Wisc. Sharon was born July 3, 1940 in Tomahawk to the late Tony and Adeline (Winters) Marheine. She was married to Bruce Spinney on August 6, 1960. Bruce passed away in 2016.

Sharon graduated from Tomahawk High School and attended college receiving her teaching degree. She taught special education at both the elementary and middle school levels. Bruce and Sharon lived in Alaska where she taught in Kodiak Island for some time before making Tripoli, Wisc. their permanent home in 1990. Sharon was a loving mother and welcomed many foster children, including Daniel, which they later adopted. She enjoyed cooking and making jelly, reading books, and spending time with family and friends. She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her sons Don (Joanna) Spinney of Corpus Christi, Texas and Daniel Spinney of Rhinelander, Wisc.; her two daughters Denise (David) Hass, of Orange, Calif. and Janet (Al) Clark of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas; her three brothers Tony (Judy) Marheine of Tripoli, Phil (Jackie) Marheine of Merrill, Wisc. and Doug (Debbie) Marheine of Tripoli; and four sisters Cathy (Jim) Kievela of Princeton, Wisc., Joan (Gene) Potts of Tripoli, Dawn (Fred) Kropla of Bremerton, Wash. and Beverly Hartmann, of Prentice, Wisc. Sharon is further survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce, and her parents Tony and Adeline.
