Jin S. Roberts passed away at home in Quilcene, Wash. December 17, 2016. Jin was born in November 1926 in Korea and survived both Japanese occupation and the Korean War. She was the fifth of seven children and only one of four to survive the war along with her father, Jin managed to save her two daughters, Song Rothwell of Shoreline, Wash. and Song Chang of Yakima, Wash., but lost her husband.
After the conflict ended, Jin re-married Guy D. Roberts of Idaho Falls, Idaho and had a son, Terry. The family moved to Monterey, Calif. in 1960 and soon to Seattle, Wash. where Jin would spend the next 50 years.
Jin attend Seattle Community College and became a citizen of the United States in 1970 and said it was one of the best moments in her life. She demonstrated a lasting love and devotion to America and never missed an opportunity to vote.
Jin was introduced to Christianity as a child by missionaries in Korea that started her on a path of faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. She set her children’s feet on the same path for which they have been eternally grateful.
An extremely hard working and focused person, Jin’s motto was “Keep Moving,” which undoubtedly developed early in life and was reinforced by the hardships she endured during the war. This motto guided her through life on her journey back home to God.
Jin is survived by her sister Chun Moon (widowed); daughters Song Rothwell (widowed) and Song Chang (David); son Terry Roberts (Karen Brindle); granddaughters Lorena Wren (Steve), Ginger Cornish (Rich) and Cindy Chang (Joel); grandsons Tom Chang (Nicole), Danny Chang (Chau); and 15 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Quilcene Bible Church, Quilcene, Wash. on Jan. 21, 2017at 11 a.m.
