H. William (Bill) Shamhart, M.D.

Port Ludlow, Wash.

Jan. 28, 1922 – Jan. 1, 2017 

Bill Shamhart, 94, born to Harry and Agnes Shamhart on Jan. 28, 1922, passed away peacefully at his home in Port Ludlow on Jan. 1, 2017, attended by family.

Bill served 12 years in the military and received his M.D. degree from the University of Illinois. Following his residency in general surgery, he practiced in Roseville, Calif. until he retired in 1978. Bill was a big sports fan and enjoyed golf, tennis and later pickle ball until age 86. He loved sailing and in 1980 Bill and his wife Carol embarked on a sailing trip around the world from 1980-1986 on his sailboat Shammy.

Bill is survived by his wife Carol; sons Michael Wm. Shamhart (Charla) and Allen Shamhart (Karen); daughter Cindy; stepsons John (Suzanne) and David Sullivan; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the Jefferson Healthcare Home Hospice team for their part in Bill’s care, with special thanks to Suzy Sullivan for her warm and loving care to Bill.
