Frank Anthony Boyle, 71, of Port Townsend suddenly passed away on December 28, 2018. He was born in Great Lakes, Illinois on September 21, 1947 into a Navy family who moved several times throughout his adolescence. In his adulthood, Frank worked hard to support his family in jobs including clam digger, mailman and door-to-door knife salesman. While working during the day and attending school at night, Frank earned an MBA from George Washington University. He then had a long career in the federal government at the Departments of Agriculture and Justice.

In 2004, he retired in Port Townsend where he joined the Yacht Club and volunteered at the Marine Science Center. Port Townsend gave him an opportunity to pursue his lifelong love of listening to, learning and playing music. He was proud of taking vocal lessons to improve his singing voice and enjoyed being a member of The Ukes of Hazard, Singers in the Rain and Ukuleles Unite. One of his favorite activities was participating in the Port Townsend Acoustic Blues Festival.

He is survived by his son Michael (Maria) Boyle of Boston, daughter Alexandra (Matt) Brott of Ballard, daughter Carrie (Tony) Hillman of Port Townsend, grandchildren Adam Boyle and Lilah Brott and siblings Ruth Sharpe, Betsy Thomas and Jim Boyle. He is much missed by his heart’s companion Nancy Villagran.

A celebration of Frank’s life will be held in the summer of 2019. Friends and family will sing, play, dance and remember Frank and all his quirks. Details are to be determined.
