Donna Jean (Verrier) Daubenberger passed away at her home in Port Townsend, Wash. on Jan. 13, 2017 surrounded by her family and friends. She was 91 years old. She was born August 4, 1925 in Friday Harbor, Wash. to Cleve and Gertrude Verrier. They moved to Port Townsend in 1928 when she was three years old.

She attended Port Townsend schools where she graduated in 1943 and went on to attend the University of Washington. Donna married her high school sweetheart and love of her life James Otto Daubenberger on June 13, 1945. They had four children: James, Jana, Joan and Joseph.

They owned two businesses in Port Townsend, the Hilltop Tavern and then Daubie’s clothing store until their retirement in 1983. Donna was involved in many civic activities and was passionate about the arts and the advancement of women. She was involved with the Port Townsend Summer School of the Arts, PEO and was instrumental in organizing and implementing Trees for Port Townsend, the first Port Townsend Historic Homes tour and many fundraising quilts. She volunteered many hours for Habitat for Humanity. Donna was also an avid gardener and loved to cook.

She is survived by her husband James, her children James (Mary), Jana (Reto) Filli, Joan (Derek) Reijnen, Joseph (Julie Ann). And her grandchildren Hans and Michael Daubenberger, Noah Michel, Sadie Gillis, Kiel and Nash Reijnen, Jamison Hodgson, Arabella Ashmore and Harrison Hodgson. Her great-grandchildren James Gale, Finn and Oliver Daubenberger, Emmylou Reijnen and Quinn Gillis.
