Dean Shinn took his own life the day before his birthday. Dean had been battling cancer for several years.
Dean and grew up in Maryland spending his childhood on the back bays near his home.
Dean was a very intelligent well educated guy. He had 2 Masters degrees.
Dean bought 40 acres near Sequim and was developing a sanctuary on the property and part of his bequest is to support that effort.
Dean was a complicated guy. He had large ideas and a joyous personality and was fun to be with. Then there were more troubled times and he had difficulty dealing with some people. Dean did not always play well with others.
It was hard work to be his friend but most of us found it worth the effort.
He will be missed.
