On Aug. 6 and 9, Tuesday and Friday of this week, the Port Townsend Nuclear Ban team presents a two-day event at the Cotton Building, 607 Water Street, Port Townsend, exploring how to exit the extremely dangerous and expensive nuclear weapons dilemma the world is in. The program will educate, amuse, inspire and help us get through grief and denial, bring us together, so that we the people can help our beloved country change course on our national journey.

Our two keynote speakers: Dr. Mary-Wynne Ashford, a distinguished Canadian peace and disarmament advocate, and Elizabeth Murray, who after years in the CIA as Deputy National Intelligence officer for the Middle East, is now working with the Poulsbo based anti-nuclear organization, Ground Zero. Mary-Wynne speaks Tuesday at 7, Elizabeth speaks Friday at 7. The recently released film we are showing at 6 p.m. both days “The Beginning of the End of Nuclear Weapons” explores how determined activists working with the United Nations successfully helped 122 nations of the world endorse the UN treaty of 2017 banning nuclear weapons. It’s a great film - don’t miss it!

Let’s encourage our government to put scientists, technicians, engineers, and machinists making weapons that could end life on our planet to work for a green new deal, that will provide enormous dividends of infrastructure, hospitals, education, schools, alternative energy and jobs!
