Not a limerick

That “limerick” by Slim Merick is not a limerick. The rhyme scheme is correct, but the scansion is not. Lines 1, 2, and 5 of a limerick each have three beats, where lines 3 and 4 each have two beats.

It’s a good poem, however, and unusual in modern times in that it actually rhymes and scans. As for the topic, Eleanora when I saw her was merely moving around in her environment, as we all do, not fleeing. She is to be released soon anyway, when the research is done, and in the meantime she is given lots to keep her occupied.

Right! Let's not relegate limericks into the realm of free verse!
