In its first-ever Pop-Up Sale on Saturday, Jan. 18, through Monday, Jan. 20, Northwind Art will offer fine art and furnishings at what it deemed “unheard-of prices” at the Jeanette Best Gallery, located at 701 Water St. in Port Townsend.

Paintings, sculptures, frames and framing materials, books, glassware and other goods, all donated over the years to the nonprofit organization, will go on sale from noon to 5 p.m. during all three days of the holiday weekend.

“This is a rare chance to collect art from local artists who have donated or bequeathed their beautiful works to us,” said Northwind spokesperson Diane Urbani.

The Northwind Art collection that will feed the Pop-Up Sale, includes “abundant art” from the late Jay Haskins and from the late Jeanette Best, both of whom were among the artists who were there when the Northwind Arts Center began some 25 years ago.

A number of other well-known artists’ works, from framed paintings to table-top sculptures, will be available for purchase.

“For bargain seekers who already have enough art at home, or who are looking for framing supplies and odds and ends, the sale will have those too,” Urbani said. Prices will range from $1 to $5 to $10 to $20.

“We’re so grateful to the artists who have generously shared their work with us. Now, we look forward to welcoming everyone to the gallery, and to getting these artworks out into the world.

Proceeds go to Northwind Art, which operates the Jeanette Best Gallery in downtown Port Townsend, as well as the Northwind Art School at Fort Worden.

Both before and after the Pop-Up Sale, the Jeanette Best Gallery is closed for a winter reboot, but the venue will reopen with two new art exhibitions Jan. 30: “Being with Kelp,” featuring the art of Shawna Marie Franklin of Orcas Island, and “Showcase 2025,” which will display the work of 15 makers from across the region.
