Northwind Art is now home to “Spirit of Home,” an art exhibit curated in response to the 2021 Community Read: “House Lessons: Renovating a Life” by Erica Bauermeister.
The exhibit celebrates history and connection while representing place and community.
Nine of its exhibiting and teaching artists were invited by Northwind Art to respond to the story and create an exhibit to reflect the book.
“The Community Read exhibit is unique in that artists read the assigned book and respond to specific concepts or themes in the book, drawing inspiration from text or images that surface from the book or story,” explained Northwind Art exhibits director Michael D’Alessandro.
Ben Bauermeister, Mike Blankenship, Larry Crockett, Max Grover, Barbara Luttrell, Mary O’Shaughnessy, Elizabeth Reutlinger, Chris Witkowski, and Joe Wuts are the artists featured in the “Spirit of Home” exhibit.
“Spirit of Home” is open through March 29 at Northwind Art Grover Gallery in Port Townsend. Visit northwindart.org to find out more.
