Northwind Art invites public to participate in community project

An art project for everyone is underway in Port Townsend.

Community members around Port Townsend are invited to join in to Northwind Art’s free event “Seeds Are Postcards from the Land” during the month of March.

Participation is simple. Anyone interested can pick up a specially designed postcard at Northwind Art’s Grover Gallery, located at 236 Taylor St. in Port Townsend or at the Port Townsend Public Library, then draw or paint their own message of thanks to the land.

Postcards can be dropped off at the library or the Grover Gallery by Friday, March 10.

After the cards are collected, they will be displayed later this month at the library.

The project is just one part of the Community Read, which is happening all month. The library has chosen the young adult edition of “Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants,” as this year’s Community Read.

Free copies are at the library, and a list of related activities is found at PTPublicLibrary.org.
