No new cases of COVID-19 found in Jefferson County this week

Jefferson County has gone 11 days without a new case of COVID-19 being reported in the county, local health officials announced Friday.

The last positive test of a coronavirus infection was reported by Jefferson County Public Health on Monday, Sept. 14.

That infection involved a Port Townsend woman who as between the age of 70 and 79, health officials said.

That case brought the total number of COVID-19 infections in Jefferson County to 71.

There was an even greater gap in time between the 71st and 70th cases.

The 70th case of COVID-19 in Jefferson County was reported Aug. 31, and involved a Port Townsend man between the age of 70 and 79.

Jefferson health officials updated its COVID-19 statistics Friday morning.

A total of 8,078 patients have been tested, and negative results of COVID infections have come back for 7,968 tests.
From tests completed so far in Jefferson County, those testing positive for the disease represent .87 percent of all patients tested.

Officials said test results are still pending for 39 patients.

County health officials report that 70 of the 71 COVID-19 patients has recovered from the disease.

Officials note that the Washington State Department of Health considers a COVID-19 patent as "recovered" from the disease if they are still alive and out of the hospital after 28 days from the onset of symptoms.

One patient out of 71 in Jefferson County is currently considered as not recovered from COVID-19.

No deaths due to coronavirus have been reported in Jefferson County since the start of the pandemic.
